"The warmest of welcomes for a delightful book" - Wisden
Inspired by Jane Austen's History of England, this dictionary of Extra-Ordinary English Cricketers was compiled by JL Carr; cricket, in particular Yorkshire cricket, being one of his greatest passions.
"Horace (c.1890) a horse of such exquisite sensibility, that, when Fred Morley, the invariable Notts. last man, left the Trent Bridge pavilion, it sidled unobtrusively towards the roller."

Thia ia the perfect present for a cricket-mad grandson....or for anyone! Witty, erudite, and beautifully written. A joy.
Bought for a cricket mad friend of mine - he was delighted to receive it and has said how much he enjoys dipping into it - in a world where we are swamped by the internet and live in our online bubbles show someone you know who likes cricket that you care by gifting them this - they and you will not be disappointed.
An utterly delightful and quirky Pocket Book, which sings a hymn to the glories and - obviously - eccentricities of the greatest game. It’s researched (unless it was already stored in his mind) and written by JL Carr, a splendid eccentric himself. I confess to being disappointed that the highest score by a batsman is no longer held by AEJ Collins!
