"No man is an Iland, intire of it selfe; every man is a peece of the Continent, a part of the maine" - John Donne

Now considered to be the preeminent 'Metaphysical' poet, at the time of writing Donne's poetry was not widely circulated; he was best known during his life as Dean of St Paul's and preacher of fervent sermons, particularly Meditation XVII "Nunc Lento Sonitu Dicunt, Morieris" (Now, this bell tolling softly for another, says to me: Thou must die). Born in 1572 to Roman Catholic parents, he went on to have 12 children. He died in 1631 aged 59.

This Pocket Book contains 11 of his poems including Going to Bed, The Flea and Confined Love.
